Course description
A workshop for beginners and those with some experience who wish to improve their drawing and painting skills in portraiture and the full figure.
This course deals with improving visual concentration, composition, tone and technique. Using a variety of mediums, they will explore the world of drawing and painting with a model as the subject. The course begins with portraiture and progresses onto gesture drawing and full figure compositions in charcoal, pencil and acrylic. Basic materials are provided. Students wanting to paint must provide their own medium. Eileen gives individual direction to each student according to their level and experience.
Tutor profile
Eileen Healy is an established Figurative artist based in Cork. She was a full-time member of Backwater Studios for 20 years. A firm believer in the practice of working from life she regularly works from the live model in her studio. She has been included in many high profile exhibitions, including Arnotts Portrait Award and RHA annual open submission in Dublin. Her residencies include Students Arts League, New York, Tyrone Guthrie Centre, The Burren, Sirius Arts Centre and Cill Rialaig. She teaches life drawing and painting at CCAD.
