#EUSEA2020 Postponed in response to Covid19

Dear EUSEA members and friends,

Over the last weeks you may all have experienced how the spreading virus Covid19 is creating concerns among colleagues, families and friends. All across the world universities, companies, cultural institutions and other stakeholders are limiting travels and larger events now, to avoid further transmissions of the virus. We – the organising team in Cork and the EUSEA Board – have closely observed all data and developments available until today. We have also studied recommendations from the WHO and national institutions with a qualified perspective on this issue.

Based on these facts and suggestions, we have discussed the impact of Covid19 on our upcoming conference. As much as we all would love to meet you all in Cork for another exciting EUSEA conference, we have collaboratively decided to put safety first and postpone the EUSEA Conference 2020 to a later date this year. Our plan is to conduct the conference with the same programme after summer break, and we will let you know these dates as soon as possible. All conference fees will be reimbursed. The team in Cork will notify all registered participants about the procedures for reimbursing the transferred budgets.

We hope that you understand our decision – sometimes it is better to postpone a meeting to enjoy it even more when we come together next time.

 Keep safe and healthy!

Your #EUSEA2020 Conference Team and EUSEA Board

The European Science Engagement Conference 2020 will be held in Cork, Ireland, on the 16th and 17th April. “Conducting Public Engagement in Times of Dissonances” is the guiding motto this year. The Conference annually unites an international community of science communication and public engagement professionals. It´s an opportunity to share, discuss and develop the diversity of knowledge, experiences, tools and methodologies that make our field vital and relevant across institutions, topics and countries. Cork Institute of Technology, Blackrock Castle Observatory and the EUSEA team have been working hard in the preparation of a unique gathering, balancing thought-provoking sessions, relaxed meetings and inspiring keynotes. Sessions and speakers are showcased on our website. Make sure to arrive a day early to enjoy a very special Pre-Conference Programme on 15 April!

The Conference Venue is the renowned CIT Cork School of Music https://csm.cit.ie/ whilst the Pre-Conference venue is the Nano Nagle Place  https://nanonagleplace.ie/ - a beautiful urban heritage and event centre which has been a stronghold of education since the 19th century.

There will be a social event on Wednesday, April 15th following the FameLab Ireland Final, to the historical Blackrock Castle Observatory https://www.bco.ie/ which will include a tour of the exhibit, edutainment and a light supper.
